Good Vibrations: Hacking Motion Sickness on the Cheap

Presented on: August 3, 2009
Presented at: DEFCON XVII

Motion sickness has been an issue since man learned how to travel by means other than by foot, with the earliest recorded cases dating back to ancient Greece.

Although the problem has existed for such a long time, there has been no documented case of a cure for all forms and severities of motion sickness and the most common way to relieve people of the symptoms that go along with motion sickness involve taking drugs. In this presentation, Tottenkoph will give an overview of what causes motion sickness as well as introduce a set of devices that will help lessen the severity of the symptoms that can be made easily.

It's All In Your Mind: Hacking Cognition

Presented on: April 18, 2009
Presented at: NOTACON 6

As a result of the constant high stressed, sleep-deprived, and malnourished state of being that the majority of us live in, smart drugs are considered a normal part of life. Wake up, grab a Monster on your way to the office and then pop out for a smoke when your head feels like it is about to explode in order to help you relax and refocus.

Our presentation will give an overview of what parts of your brain controls various cognitive functions, stressors that effect these functions, the more popular smart drugs that are currently available, which cognitive functions they affect, and the short and long term effects that are associated with each. At the end of the presentation, we'll have caffeinated pixi sticks for members of the audience to take with them.

Hacking the outdoor digital billboard network

Presented on: August 10, 2008
Presented at: DEFCON XVI

Outdoor digital billboards are becoming the new way to advertise multiple products/services/etc with a single board as compared to having a street littered with dozens of these eyesores. Therefore, they're more fun to take apart and play with. While driving one day, I noticed a 404 error on one of these billboards and after discussing it with my fellow speakers, hatched a plan to hack into their network and advertise our own ideas/ "products".

We will be talking about how we exploited the physical and network security of this well known company and used these to upload our own images. This is *not* a step-by-step how to, but rather addresses the vulnerabilities that exist and how they could be used for guerilla advertising and digital graffiti.
